Spring in Dallas is pure magic—the golden sunlight, the vibrant blooms, and the perfect temperatures make it an ideal season for family photos. As a McKinney family photographer, I love guiding my clients to locations that feel both timeless and personal. If you’re dreaming of a session filled with soft florals, lush greenery, and natural beauty, these five locations are my absolute favorites for springtime photos.
1. Dallas Arboretum – Cherry Blossoms
Spring at the Dallas Arboretum is nothing short of breathtaking. The delicate cherry blossoms create a dreamy, pink-hued canopy. With vibrant tulips, fresh greenery, and charming pathways, this location is a must for families who want a classic yet elegant spring backdrop.

Best for: Families who love floral-filled landscapes and an elevated garden setting.
2. Richardson Wildflowers – A Meadow of Color
If you love natural, organic settings, Richardson’s wildflower fields are a hidden gem. One of my favorite things about being a Mckinney Family photographer is every spring, these fields come alive with bursts of colorful blooms, from bright yellow daisies to delicate bluebonnets. The open, sunlit spaces provide the perfect setting for playful, candid moments with your little ones.

Best for: Families who love nature, open fields, and a relaxed, carefree atmosphere.
3. Timeless Charm in Highland Park
Tucked away in Highland Park, this spot is a small yet stunning location with European-style charm. The stone gazebo, manicured lawns, and blooming flowers make it an elegant and intimate spot for family photos. The classic fountain and surrounding greenery add a touch of old-world romance, making every image feel polished yet effortlessly beautiful.

Best for: Families who want a polished, timeless look with a hint of European charm.
4. North Texas Bluebonnets
Nothing says Texas spring quite like a field full of bluebonnets. These iconic blooms typically peak for just 2–4 weeks between late March and mid-April, offering a fleeting but breathtaking backdrop for springtime family and motherhood portraits.
If you’re hoping to catch them this season, here’s a 2025 list of confirmed bluebonnet sightings across the Dallas–Fort Worth area:
✨ Confirmed Bluebonnet Locations (2025):
- HBJ Stadium – Garland, TX
- Myers Park – McKinney, TX
- Bethany Lakes Park – Allen, TX
- Freedom Meadow at Warren Sports Complex – Frisco, TX
- Zion Cemetery – Frisco, TX (Please note: this location surrounds private property. Several visitors have reported police presence and citations for trespassing this year.)
A Gentle Reminder for Fellow Bluebonnet Lovers:
As you explore, please be mindful not to trample the wildflowers. Choose sparse patches or natural paths between florals to preserve the integrity of each field. Once a bluebonnet patch is destroyed, it may not return the following year.
One beloved spot in Flower Mound was lost due to heavy foot traffic and disregard for preservation—let’s do our part to keep these magical places thriving for generations to come.
If someone is kind enough to share a special location with you, return that kindness by treating the area (and others) with care.
Best for: Families who love a classic Texan backdrop.

5. Dallas Rose Gardens
The rose gardens bloom beautifully throughout the season. With winding pathways, classic stone accents, and vibrant roses in every shade, this garden offers a soft, romantic aesthetic that never goes out of style.

Best for: Families who appreciate lush gardens and a refined, timeless setting.
6. Texas Tulips
Texas Tulips located in Pilot Point, TX offers a truly magical setting for spring photo sessions—with rows of vibrant blooms, soft rolling fields, and the kind of golden light that makes every moment feel like a scene from a storybook. It’s one of the few places in North Texas where you can experience a European-style tulip farm without leaving home. Perfect for playful family portraits, motherhood moments, or romantic captures, the tulip fields provide a seasonal backdrop that’s both colorful and timeless—making it a favorite among families looking to celebrate spring in a unique and beautiful way. The ideal time to photograph here is during the weekdays when the crowds are more mild and within the first two weeks of the farm’s spring opening.
